The Challenge

Online shopping for health products is a trust problem. Search for any supplement and you’ll find the same things: aggressive sales pages, exaggerated promises and reviews that read like ads. Shoppers don’t need more hype. They need clear, honest information in one place.

VDpicks was created to solve exactly that. The idea is simple: find popular, well-reviewed products and present them in an easy-to-read format covering ingredients, pricing, pros and cons. The business model is affiliate marketing, so the site earns a commission when a reader buys through a link.

That model creates a design challenge with three parts:

  1. Credibility. Visitors are skeptical of affiliate sites. The design and content must feel independent, not pushy.
  2. Scale. The site needed to handle many products across several categories without becoming messy.
  3. Conversion. Even a trustworthy site has to guide readers toward the official product page without feeling like a hard sell.

Our job at VDvibe was to build a platform that balanced all three.

Our Goals

Before designing anything, we set five goals:

Our Approach

1. A category structure that makes browsing simple

We organized the catalogue into three categories: Food & Drink, Health & Fitness, and Online Business & Training. On the homepage, visitors can filter products by category with one tap, in both the “Best Sellers” and “New Picks Just In” sections.

This structure lets the site grow into new niches later without a redesign. Each product also carries its own tags and brand taxonomy (for example Sleep Support or Sleep Wellness), which helps visitors find related products and gives search engines clear topical signals.

2. A homepage that explains itself in seconds

First-time visitors should understand the site’s purpose immediately. The homepage opens with a headline built around Supplement Reviews and Top Online Deals, followed by a short “Why We Started VDpicks” story. It explains the mission in plain language: do the searching for the visitor and share honest, easy-to-read information.

We then added:

The result is a homepage that moves a visitor from “what is this site?” to “I trust it enough to read a review” in one scroll.

3. Product pages designed as real reviews

This was the most important part of the build. Each product page isn’t just a listing. It’s a structured review that follows the same template every time:

Including real cons was a deliberate decision. A review with only positives reads like an ad. A balanced review builds trust, and trust is what makes visitors click through.

The template also includes a product gallery and a customer review section, leaving room to collect reader feedback over time.

4. Trust and compliance built into the design

In health and wellness, compliance isn’t optional. We designed trust elements into the layout itself rather than hiding them in a footer:

These elements protect the business, build reader confidence and help the site meet the transparency standards that advertising platforms and regulators expect.

5. SEO groundwork for long-term traffic

Paid ads can be expensive and restricted in the supplement space, so organic search was central to the strategy. We set up:

The aim is for each review to rank for the “[product] review” searches that people make right before they buy.

6. A mobile-first, fast-loading build

Most shoppers browse on their phones, so the site is built responsively with Elementor, using font-display swap and external CSS loading to keep pages light. Layouts, product cards and tabs were checked across screen sizes so the reading experience stays clean on mobile.

7. Capturing readers who aren’t ready to buy yet

Not every visitor buys on the first visit. A newsletter sign-up on the homepage lets VDpicks stay in touch with readers by sharing new picks, deals and shopping tips. Over time, an email list becomes an asset that doesn’t depend on search rankings or ad budgets.

The Tech Stack

Results (Early Stage)

VDpicks is a newly launched platform, and this case study reflects its foundation phase:

The structure is in place, and the focus now is on growing organic traffic through more reviews and comparison content.

Key Learnings

1. Honesty converts better than hype. Balanced reviews with real pros and cons give readers a reason to believe the site.

2. A good template is a growth engine. Because every review follows the same structure, adding a new product takes far less time while keeping quality consistent.

3. Compliance is a feature. Disclosures and careful wording aren’t obstacles. They’re part of what makes readers trust an affiliate site.

4. Organic traffic is the long game. In niches where paid ads are restricted, well-optimized review content is the more sustainable path.
